From previous Columns, you have learned that EEM recognizes 9 energetic systems. The exercise addressed today reinforces The Celtic Weave energy system. Our bodies’ energies spin, spiral, crisscross (remember that the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side of the body and the left hemisphere controls the right side) and weave our subtle energies into invisible interconnected threads that literally weave all other energy systems together to function as a whole integrated unit.

Perhaps you have heard reference to Tibetan Rings (from The East) or noticed that in our own culture, the caduceus depicts 2 serpents on a staff intertwined 7 times to symbolize medicine. Spring—the Time for Body Clearing & Making Space—Expel the Venom Exercise!

Many cultures are in tune with the effects of the seasons and rhythms on the body, soul and spirit. EEM recognizes that we are all influenced by these shifting season and draws on many of these ancient beliefs. There are 5 Rhythms, each with their unique characteristics. Each of us has a primary Rhythm that impacts us throughout life. The Rhythms correlate with the season, together with many other patterns that become easily recognizable as you learn the components of each Rhythm. For today, I will just address the names and the season. .. Water is the winter time; Wood is the spring time; Fire is the summer time; Metal is the autumn and Earth is the transition between each of these seasons.

Since we just entered spring, when the weather gets warmer (hopefully), the days get longer and the earth heats up, the Rhythm is known as “Wood time”. It is a time for clearing out the old and bring in the new. What a perfect time to dispel pent up emotions. A person who has a primary rhythm of Wood, has the organs of liver and gallbladder associated with is; has a stress emotion associated with it (which turns the mental state of assertiveness to anger if out of balance); and the Wood rhythm governs muscles and tendons. A person who is primarily a Wood rhythm will tend to be very definitive; know what they want; take charge and be the “general” in the group and will be a leader. They will also likely have issues associated with joints, muscles, tendons and movement. This is a very quick overview, but enough to enable you to see that these patterns have a direct influence on how we maneuver through life.

Having received many emails from readers, questions from clients and questions from attendees at workshops wanting to know how to feel their own energy, it appears it is time to suggest how to engage your energies so you begin to feel this wonderful life force that surrounds and is integrated within you. In our Western culture, we are not taught or even encouraged to feel any part of our very sophisticated and complex energy anatomy. Yet it is what keeps all of our systems humming and if we begin to access it, we will feel such balance and relief. Just this week, I received 3 emails and 2 telephone calls from students and clients reporting their amazement at relief from back pain being experienced for months; or finding that pain that has existed for years is diminishing or being able to walk again without knees buckling under them. All of these people are just like you and I, and are learning to pay attention to the energies of the body, understanding that if there is dis-ease somewhere, it is this remarkably complex body’s way of saying—“Hey—I need some attention here at this location where I am sending impulses to you”.

So, by beginning to be aware of your own body’s subtle energy fields, you will begin a new journey toward optimizing your health. Try this simple exercise to begin to detect your energy (It is helpful to close your eyes so you may “tune in” easier) (for more detail see Donna’s book page 42):

Step 1. Rub your hands vigorously together for at least 10 seconds until heat begins to build.

Step 2. Pull your hands away from one another very slowly a distance of 6 to 8 inches and hold.

Step 3. Try moving your hands toward one another again, very slowly and then move them apart. Many will experience in either step 1 or 2 a sense of something that is very palpable and seems to have a magnetic pull or draw. This is your energy and the forces that encompass us. Colds with Dry Cough and Fever—let EEM Help-Part 2!

Last week’s Column addressed colds with runny nose and sneezes. This week we will address dry coughing and fevers related to colds PLUS an added bonus of what to do in the bath tub if you feel a cold coming on. Intriguing ,aye? What is better than a warm bath, especially with candles, a good book and a glass of wine…. the answer is EEM to beat a potential cold!

Sniffles, Colds, Dry Cough—let EEM Help!

Tired of that runny nose, sore throat, continual cough especially during the transition of seasons? I can honestly say that I have not had a full blown cold or cough for at least 5 years. Flying—Use EEM Routine to Avoid Jetlag!

   Our ancestors did not evolve to be removed from the electromagnetic frequencies of the Earth for periods of time. The Earth has meridians just like our bodies, so when we change time zones our bodies are not in sync with the new time zones where we land—thus that feeling of JET LAG! Since most of us fly, it is helpful to have a tool to cope with Jetlag. What creates jet lag anyway? Our 14 meridians (each associated with an organ of the body) acclimate to the electromagnetic environment in the time zone you are in. Each meridian has a specific time of the day with which it is associated. For example, the heart meridian’s high tide is 11 AM to 1 PM. When our body is placed into a new time zone, the systems continue to operate in the zone you just left. If we leave Ft Myers at 11:30 AM, we are in the heart time. When we arrive in California 3 hours later (which would be 2:30 PM Ft Myers time, but California time it is still 11:30 AM), our body is still operating as if it has moved on to the high tide of small intestine (1 PM- 3 PM). So, our systems experience a lag and sluggishness since they are no longer in sync with the rhythms of the Earth as they seek to find balance. If you travel from California to London, you will pass through 5 different time zones!

   To address Jet Lag, Donna Eden has suggested several techniques that help. First she suggests doing the 3 Thumps (part of the 5 Minute Routine) every several hours.    The following method is wonderful to reset the meridians so they are in sync with the time zone of your destination. The chart below is from EEM book, page 145 and will be used to tap acupressure points on each meridian. Take it with you when you fly.

Repeat every 2 hours on the next pair of meridians; i.e. move down the list to the next meridian below the original time for current location and for your destination.
  3. If the flight is 8 hours or more, locate the acupressure point for the expected arrival time and for the last 4 hours of the flight, tap this point simultaneously on both the right and left side of the body for 1 minute each hour.

   Finally, I trace my meridians with the new time zone, which is another way to adjust (see Karen’s blog of prior Columns or EEM book). These tools have worked for me over the last 7 years consistently—and I fly at least 1 or 2 times each month! Try it, it does work!

Cancer, Repatterning our Energetic Anatomy – Part 3

   The last 2 weeks have been dedicated to learning tools to assist with Cancer, with the Holy Grail for cancer being to strengthen spleen and then to sedate triple warmer, since together these two meridians govern the immune system. Not only are SP and TW meridians, but they are also Radiant Circuits—meaning they have an innate intelligence that enables them to go to any part of our being that needs assistance. It also means that when the body is fighting a dis—ease of the body like cancer, their energy levels may be very stressed. This means that TW will start drawing energy from other organs to provide it with energy to keep you moving and in survival mode. Today, you will learn several additional tools to help deal with the dis—-ease of the body when it is struggling to find balance amidst the cancer cells being created. Because this is a complex subject, the tools will be suggested, with locations of resources you may review to assist in obtaining more in depth information.

  8. Step 1. Place the left hand under the center of your rib cage with the right hand placed directly on top of the left. Pull the elbows close against the body.
  9. Step 2. Inhale deeply and push your upper belly toward the hands while holding the hands firmly against the pressure of your upper belly. Hold the breadth while maintaining the pressure between body and hands. The longer the breadth is held and the more pressure exerted from the body being pushed out to meet the hands the better.Step 3. When you release the breath, ease the hands. Cancer, Repatterning our Energetic Anatomy – Part 2

   Last week we learned that cancer, like any other imbalance of the body creating dis–ease, has managed to bypass the biochemical gateways in our body that remove damaged DNA cells before they get to our immune system. Our immune system is governed by Triple Warmer and Spleen, which inevitably with cancer, will need rebalanced. Generally TW needs sedated and Spleen needs strengthened. You learned how to strengthen Spleen last week. This week the tools to sedate Triple Warmer will be reviewed.

   The sedating and strengthening points are acupressure points along the each meridian. These points, along with many others, are used in acupuncture to release clogged or sluggish energy. We use the same points in EEM. By holding these points with your fingers, you are able to energetically begin to shift the flow of energy into the organ and systems involved. Because TW controls energetically all of the organs of the body, by “sedating it”, you are literally pulling energy from this meridian, to enable the body to calm and rebalance. TW is governed by and governs the hypothalamus, in the primal part of our brain, which operates automatically and is based on the fight, flight and freeze response. By calming TW, we are enabling our body to shift into a much less stressful mode, so that we may enhance the shifting of our ingrained habits. Whether we like it or not, we can’t change these habits with our minds by merely thinking we want to change, because these habits have been set into the subconscious primitive part of our primal anatomy. So, by sedating TW, we enable the habit field to begin to be changed so our being is in a much more relaxed state. Not only is sedating TW beneficial for use with cancer, but it is helpful in any stressful situation—it is deeply relaxing! Try it and see for yourself. I have seen people time and again just relax into a position of comfort and calm by using these points. As with any energy tool, however, be mindful of how it impacts you and if it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it!

   To sedate Triple Warmer, look at the diagram below and hold the 1st pair of points 3 to 5 minutes minimum on 1 side of the body and then the other side. Hold them longer if need be. I have held points on clients for up to 20 minutes and sometimes more. If you hold until the pulses are equal on both points this is the perfect amount of time. Then hold the second set of points on the 1 side and then the other side for ½ the time as the first. Do this as daily or more if your body is feeling under attack. With cancer, it is best to hold spleen strengthening point’s right after TW sedating points. Using these paired points is extremely helpful if undergoing chemotherapy or radiation since it enables the body to stay calmer with the infusion of foreign chemicals into the body—which is viewed by TW as an attack on its troops (all the organs it governs energetically).

Cancer, Finding the Energetic Balance-Part 1

   Cancer, let’s shift our perspective and view cancer as an imbalance of the body’s cells, just like diabetes, fibromyalgia or Parkinson’s. Our body is continually seeking the balance in our energetic anatomy and if we can help it find that balance, healing at a deeply profound level begins. I have been asked about dealing with cancer quite frequently, so thought it appropriate to provide some basic tools.

   Michael Douglas had the right idea when he said “Cancer didn’t bring me to my knees; it brought me to my feet!” So, if we have or know someone who has cancer, how do we get to our feet? That is the topic for today. Cancer is like any other dis—ease of the body—it is a loud warning to us that our bodies are out of balance and we need to act to bring harmony back. Of course acting is not always easy and with cancer, it is necessary to shift long entrenched habit fields. Cancer didn’t happen overnight, it is a gradual process. Cancer cells have damaged DNA, which cells have by-passed detection by many biochemical gateways in our body designed to detect and eliminate damaged DNA cells. Once our gateway of the immune system fails to detect the damaged DNA, the DNA is enabled to transform genes into cancer causing or cancer suppressing genes. A single cell starts the process of cancer if it sneaks through our natural built in defenses.

   Cancer is an abnormal growth that has the ability to invade other tissue. From an energy standpoint, the best approach is prevention, but if Cancer is a reality in your life or that of someone close to you, what can be done to help? The suggestions below are generic.    To strengthen spleen, look at the diagram below and hold the 1st pair of points (holding removes energy from the TW meridian) 3 to 5 minutes minimum on 1 side of the body and then the other side. Hold for longer if it feels good! Hold the second pair of points (holding stabilizes the shifts you made with the first pair) on the 1 side and then the other side for ½ the time as the first.
